The Changbai Mountain region, along with the Alps and Caucasus Mountains, is an important source of natural mineral water. The French Alps are the source of Evian mineral water; the Spa region of Belgium is renowned for its natural mineral water resources and hot springs, and is the origin of the word "SPA" (hydrotherapy).
China's natural mineral water resources are mainly concentrated in the Changbai Mountain region of Jilin Province. This area is included in the "Jilin Changbai Mountain Natural Mineral Water" geographical indication protection area, covering 16 counties and cities including Antu, Jingyu, and Fusong. Antu County has discovered 106 mineral springs with a total daily flow of 568,000 tons, mostly metasilicic acid type mineral water. Jingyu County is known for its abundant mineral water resources, with a predicted large resource volume. The mineral water in this region is mostly formed in volcanic basalt strata and is rich in minerals such as metasilicic acid and strontium.
In addition, mineral water resources have been discovered and developed in other parts of China. For example, a large natural mineral water source has been discovered in Shuli, Yixian County, Anhui Province; mining rights for mineral water have been successfully transferred in Xiongjiamiao area, Qingcheng County, Qingyang City, Gansu Province; a mineral water resource development and utilization plan exists in Nanshan, Huarong County, Hunan Province; mineral water resources are widely distributed in Zhejiang Province, mainly of the metasilicic acid type; and Wuliquan in Arshan City, Inner Mongolia, is also a famous mineral spring.
Natural mineral water sources are usually located deep underground in ecologically sound, pollution-free areas with unique geological structures. After decades to tens of thousands of years of deep circulation, rock strata filtration, and mineral dissolution, the dynamic indicators of groundwater, such as chemical composition, flow rate, and water temperature, remain relatively stable within natural cyclical fluctuations and contain specific minerals or trace elements that meet national standards.
